National Youth Advocate Program in Texas

NYAP expanded into the Lone Star State in 2018, establishing our Texas operations to serve children, youth, and families across Lubbock and surrounding counties. Our community-based office reaches Texas families throughout the area, bringing proven support to those we serve.

Texas presents unique challenges and opportunities for family services, from its vast size to its status as one of the largest, centralized child welfare systems in the world.   • Foster Care - Providing safe, temporary homes and supportive services for children and youth who cannot safely remain with their primary families, while focusing on family reunification and the well-being of each child and youth

Foster Care in Texas

Foster care in Texas relies on strong, family-centered approaches to support children and youth from diverse backgrounds. NYAP provides individualized, evidence-based services that address each child and youth’s developmental, emotional, physical, and cultural needs, while connecting families to vital community resources and support, as appropriate.

Foster parents receive comprehensive training and ongoing support with a focus on safety, trauma-responsive care, and effective behavior management. When appropriate, foster parents also serve as primary family mentors, building meaningful relationships, strengthening stability, and promoting long-term well-being for children and youth.
