South Carolina Foster Parent Requirements
Becoming a foster parent means joining a diverse community of caregivers committed to children's wellbeing. NYAP welcomes applicants who are:
At least 21 years old
In good physical and mental health
Financially able without reliance on foster care reimbursement
Able to provide adequate living space for a child or youth’s comfort and privacy
Willing to complete local, state, and federal background checks
Free from disqualifying history with Child Protective Services
Able to pass background checks for all household members age 18 and over
Ready to engage in comprehensive pre-service training
Willing to provide three letters of reference from non-relatives
