Evidence-Based Therapies

NYAP utilizes evidence-based therapies to help youth, individuals, and families heal and grow. Evidence-based therapies used include, but are not limited to:

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
    MI is a person-centered therapy that helps individuals resolve ambivalence to find their own internal motivation to change behavior 

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
    An evidence-based therapy model for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma that uses cognitive behavioral principles and exposure techniques to address trauma-related symptoms
