Licking County Behavioral Health Juvenile Justice (BHJJ)

The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) recognizes the critical importance of early intervention and supportive services when youth experience challenges at home, in school, within the juvenile court system, or in their communities.

OHIO

Who We Serve

Youth eligible for BHJJ services:

  • Are involved with the juvenile court system

  • Have qualifying insurance

  • Have a Medicaid managed care plan or are enrolled in OhioRISE

Our Process

BHJJ serves youth who are referred by juvenile court employees or by families seeking court-ordered services. While NYAP does not work for the juvenile court system, we collaborate closely with system partners to advocate for each youth’s success. There is no waitlist for initial services.

Our process for starting services:

  1. NYAP receives the referral and then contacts the guardian to verify insurance and complete the referral process

  2. Guardian will receive an IntakeQ email to sign consents for treatment

  3. Youth will be scheduled for a required comprehensive assessment to identify their strengths and needs

  4. Family and therapist will discuss treatment options and develop an individualized treatment plan, which could include individual therapy, Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and psychiatric/medication services if appropriate

The Licking County Behavioral Health Juvenile Justice (BHJJ) program provides youth with timely, accessible behavioral and mental health services delivered in the home, at school, or in community settings. Our dedicated, professional employees serve as advocates for youth and collaborative partners with the juvenile court system, working to support positive outcomes and long-term stability for youth and their families.
