Foster Care in Georgia
Building Bridges to Brighter Futures
Our foster care program in Nevada launched in 2020 with a clear mission: to address the Silver State's growing need for quality foster care services. From our Las Vegas headquarters, we've developed a network of foster families ready to provide temporary, safe, and nurturing homes for children and youth who need them throughout the greater Las Vegas area and beyond.
Our Mission for Nevada Foster Care
Nevada's children and youth deserve stability, care, and hope for their futures. The need for foster families has grown more critical as licensed foster homes in Nevada decreased by 42% over five years. With 4,400 children and youth experiencing Nevada's foster care system or more on any given day, including over 3,000 in Clark County foster care alone, the need for passionate, nurturing foster families is urgent.
NYAP's foster care program focuses on more than just providing temporary homes—we build bridges between children and youth and their primary and foster families. Our unique approach encourages foster parents to become mentors and natural supports for the families of the children and youth they serve.
Nevada Foster Care Program
Our Nevada program operates one distinct level of foster care to meet the community’s needs:
Specialized Foster Care (Therapeutic Level)
We work with Clark County Family Services (CCFS) and the Nevada Division of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to addresses the needs of Nevada children and youth facing complex trauma, behavioral challenges, or medical conditions. Our therapeutic foster parents receive specialized training to provide intensive support that helps children and youth heal while avoiding institutional placement. We also offer extended foster care services for young adults ages 18 to 21.
