How We Help

NYAP utilizes evidence-based therapies to help youth and families heal and grow. Evidence-based therapies used include, but are not limited to:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

An evidence-based therapy model for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma that uses cognitive behavioral principles and exposure techniques to address trauma-related symptoms.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

MI is a person-centered therapy that helps individuals resolve ambivalence to find their own internal motivation to change behavior.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Psychotherapy utilizes components of DBT to help people process intense or complex emotions and improve self-regulation skills to enhance internal coping strategies and reduce stress. Used with persons with suicidal thoughts or self-harm, as well as borderline personality disorder.
