Come learn how to prepare as a foster parent for the potential challenges of the holidays for children from hard places and the impact of the holidays on YOU as well. Don't fall into the trap of disrupting a placement during the holiday season because you weren't prepared for the big emotions kids feel this time of year. Also, come learn how your own grief of past placements and loss might effect you this holiday season. Jill Rippy, longtime foster mom and Director with NYAP will share tried and true strategies for getting ahead of behavior at holiday events, how to shop smart, understanding your role as a foster parent regarding honoring a child's family traditions while maintaining yours and more! Does October seem a little early for this training? It's not! With seasonal changes, come mood changes for kids! Come learn how the weather effects your kids from hard places and why you nee to plan ahead with proactive strategies NOW. NYAP staff and foster parents are encouraged to attend. **This training is not appropriate for children ages 0-17. Headphones or a private space so the trainer can provide full training details is appreciated.
