National Youth Advocate Program - South Carolina
Welcome We are the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP). We have a non-negotiable commitment to do what is best for children, youth and their families. We provide opportunities and resources through our innovative programs and services. We are dedicated to strengthening the families and communities we are proud to serve. |

The South Carolina Youth Advocate Program, established in 1990, is an affiliate of the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP). The creation of the South Carolina affiliate was the first time a program developed with a start-up grant from the Continuum of Care for Emotionally Disturbed Children toward costs of establishing the agency.
Who We Are South Carolina Youth Advocate Program is a private, not-for-profit advocacy organization, classified as 501(c) (3). South Carolina Youth Advocate Program’s residential programs are licensed by the State Department of Social Services to care for children and youth. Who We Serve The primary target population served by South Carolina Youth Advocate Program’s programs is considered to be special need, difficult-to-place youth. All have some degree of emotional and/or behavioral presenting problems, most have been physical or sexually abused, and some have physical and/or mental disabilities. South Carolina Youth Advocate Program serves both male and female clients and does not discriminate by race, color, sex, religion, or national origin.
What We Do The long-term goal for each client of South Carolina Youth Advocate Program is to function in a stable environment in the community, including family reunification, when possible and appropriate. South Carolina Youth Advocate Program programs build upon its considerable experience and skill in providing services to special needs youth and their families. South Carolina Youth Advocate Program seeks to bring about the increased use of community-based services as an alternative to institutionalization of youth involved with the juvenile justice, child welfare and/or mental health system. South Carolina Youth Advocate Program’s Board of Trustees, staff and treatment parents are committed to advocacy for youth in need, and the elimination of the overuse and misuse of institutionalization of young people.
South Carolina Youth Advocate Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
